Civil Aviation: Ban on shipping "power banks" on board aircraft
The authority explained that the circular obliges the concerned parties to immediately comply with the new updates and include them in the relevant operational manuals, in addition to updating safety procedures and awareness announcements provided to passengers on board flights.
Maximum charger capacity
Among the most prominent new instructions is a ban on recharging portable chargers (power banks) while on board aircraft. The maximum number of power banks allowed per passenger is limited to two, and the use of these chargers to charge portable electronic devices during flights is discouraged. This measure aims to enhance air safety requirements and prevent potential risks associated with lithium batteries.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) emphasized that all airlines operating at the Kingdom's airports, including the private aviation sector, are required to fully comply with its circulars and regulations to ensure the highest levels of operational safety and protect passengers and crew.
This update is part of GACA's ongoing efforts to align national regulations with approved international standards and strengthen the safety and sustainability framework within the Kingdom's civil aviation sector.
