
Did Trump agree to extend the ceasefire with Iran? A US official responds
A senior US official told AFP on Wednesday that the United States has not formally agreed to extend the ceasefire with Iran, following media reports that President Donald Trump's had agreed in principle to extend the truce.
The official, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "The United States has not formally agreed to extend the ceasefire. There is ongoing dialogue between the United States and Iran to reach an agreement."
Uranium enrichment
On Wednesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated Tehran's "non-negotiable" right to uranium enrichment, while simultaneously indicating that the level of enrichment is "negotiable."
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated at a weekly press conference that the right to civilian nuclear energy cannot be "taken away under pressure or through war."
He added, "Regarding the level and type of enrichment, we have always said that the matter is negotiable. We have emphasized that Iran has the right to continue enrichment according to its needs," noting that this right is "non-negotiable."
