A strategic step towards sustainable education
In its ongoing efforts to establish a culture of institutional compliance and raise the efficiency of educational performance, the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah Governorate organized the third Student Guidance Meeting 2026. The event was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in the presence of the Director General of Education in Jeddah, Manal Al-Lahibi, and with the participation of the Director General of Student Guidance at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Hamoud Al-Samha, along with a selection of educational leaders and directors of education performance departments.
This meeting comes as part of a series of integrated efforts aimed at improving the quality of outputs in the educational field, and ensuring that professional practices are in line with the highest approved standards, in order to serve the strategic goals of education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
General context and objectives of Vision 2030
This event falls within the broader context of the Human Capital Development Program, one of the key programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to prepare globally competitive citizens. The Saudi education sector has witnessed radical transformations in recent years, shifting its focus from simply imparting information to building well-rounded students and equipping them with the skills necessary for the future job market. Student guidance plays a pivotal role in this system, no longer limited to traditional advising, but becoming a strategic tool for supporting students academically, psychologically, and professionally, and helping them make crucial decisions for their future.
The importance of the meeting and its expected impact
In her opening remarks, Manal Al-Lahibi emphasized the importance of integrated efforts to enhance the quality of field performance and support professional practices that achieve a sustainable impact. For his part, Dr. Hamoud Al-Samha noted that the current educational transformation is moving towards establishing a culture of “measurable impact.” He explained that performance monitoring is no longer a routine procedure, but rather a strategic, data-driven tool to support decision-making and achieve sustainable quality in line with Vision 2030. He stressed the need to move from the “implementation” phase to the “impact-making” phase to build a generation capable of competing globally.
Meeting topics and activities
The meeting featured a rich program that included a showcase of innovative initiatives at the accompanying exhibition, as well as presentations of specialized papers addressing topics such as "Monitoring Commitment in Student Guidance" and "Integrating Roles and Understanding Impact." An interactive workshop on "Enabling Student Guidance to Achieve Integration" was also held, and a distinguished case study in data-driven guidance for performance and discipline was presented. These events aim to equip counselors and supervisors with modern tools and methodologies that will enable them to perform their duties more effectively.
Development recommendations and recognition for participants
At the conclusion of the meeting, a set of developmental recommendations was formulated to enhance the student guidance system and improve the services provided to male and female students. Participants and organizers were also recognized for their valuable contributions, reflecting the Jeddah Education Department's commitment to motivating its staff and encouraging excellence in the educational field.
