The Minister of Hajj inspects the projects of the Holy Sites for the 1447 AH season

Early preparations and an ambitious vision to serve the guests of God

As part of ongoing monitoring and a constant commitment to providing the highest quality services to pilgrims, His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, conducted an extensive inspection tour to review the latest development projects underway in the Holy Sites. This proactive field visit aimed to assess the operational readiness of the system and review the progress of projects in preparation for the Hajj season of 1447 AH.

Historical context and sustained interest

Historically, since the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the care of pilgrims and the development of the holy sites have been a top priority for the wise leadership. With the launch of Vision 2030, this care has undergone a strategic transformation towards the sustainability of services and reliance on smart engineering and technological solutions. The shift from simply providing basic services to creating a comprehensive urban and spiritual experience reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to serving Islam and Muslims, a commitment embodied today in the mega-projects being implemented by the relevant authorities to facilitate the performance of the Hajj rituals.

Developing healthcare infrastructure: Emergency hospital

The Minister's tour included an inspection of several vital projects being implemented by Kadana Development and Investment Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites. Among the most prominent of these projects is the second phase of the Emergency Hospital, which has a capacity of 400 beds. This project is of paramount importance in enhancing the capabilities of the healthcare system and raising the level of rapid medical response during the Hajj season, thus ensuring global health security given the large population and diverse nationalities of pilgrims arriving from all corners of the earth.

Humanizing sacred feelings and improving the urban environment

Among the pioneering initiatives reviewed by the Minister was the "Humanizing the Holy Sites" project. This ambitious project aims to improve the urban landscape and address visual distortions, while enhancing the quality of the physical environment to make it more flexible and spacious. By implementing smart solutions, the project seeks to provide comfortable and sustainable urban spaces that consider the human needs of pilgrims, positively impacting their psychological and physical well-being and improving the quality of services provided.

Pilgrims' rest areas and heat stress relief

Given the climatic challenges and high temperatures in the region, the tour included an inspection of the second phase of the Hajj rest area project, which spans 36,000 square meters, complementing the first phase that covered 30,000 square meters during Hajj 1446 AH. The project provides shaded pedestrian walkways, cooling fans, commercial units, and seating areas designed to ease movement. In the same vein, the tour also included an inspection of heat stress mitigation projects around Mount Arafat and the plaza adjacent to the Namira Mosque, where innovative engineering and environmental solutions are being employed to reduce the impact of the high temperatures on pilgrims.

Enriching the cultural experience and overall impact

The projects were not limited to service and logistical aspects, but extended to enriching the cultural and interactive experience of pilgrims. The Minister visited important sites such as the Kadana Station, the Jamarat Facility Exhibition, the historic Ain Zubayda area, and the Kadana Trail. These sites highlight the rich historical and human dimension of the holy sites and offer educational content that enriches the pilgrim's journey.

The expected impact of the projects: Locally, these projects contribute to developing Makkah's infrastructure and creating a sophisticated operational environment. Regionally and internationally, they enhance the Kingdom's leadership in crowd management and provide a global model to be emulated in healthcare and logistics for millions of people within a limited geographical and temporal space, thus confirming that the comfort of the pilgrims remains the ultimate goal of the wise leadership – may God support them.
