Heavy rain in Riyadh... and warnings of flash floods and accompanying winds
The capital city of Riyadh experienced rainfall as part of an unstable weather system affecting several regions of the Kingdom, according to updates from the National Center for Meteorology.
The center explained that the weather system is characterized by thunderstorms of varying intensity, which may become heavy, accompanied by active winds that stir up dust and sand, and hail showers, leading to reduced horizontal visibility in some areas.
It noted that the Riyadh region is among the areas directly affected by this system, particularly its southern and western parts, with the system expected to continue in the coming hours, reaching its peak during the afternoon and evening.
Floods and thunderstorms
The center explained that the accompanying effects include flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, in addition to increased downdraft activity and thunderstorms. It urged caution, advising people to avoid flood channels and not to attempt to cross flooded roads. The center
emphasized the importance of following continuous updates through its official channels, given the weather fluctuations the Kingdom is experiencing during this period of spring.
