The leadership congratulates Sudan on its Independence Day: messages of support and reaffirmation of stability

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a cable of congratulations to Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan Abdel Rahman al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, on the occasion of his country's Independence Day. In his cable, the King expressed his sincerest congratulations and best wishes for continued health and happiness to His Excellency, and for further security and stability to the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Sudan, emphasizing the deep fraternal ties that bind the two brotherly countries.

In the same vein, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a similar congratulatory cable to Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. His Royal Highness expressed his warmest congratulations and best wishes for continued health and happiness to the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, and wished the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Sudan further progress and prosperity under lasting security and stability.

Independence Day: A pivotal historical milestone

This congratulation comes as Sudan celebrates its glorious Independence Day, which falls on January 1st of each year. This day is considered a landmark in the history of modern Sudan, as the country gained its full independence on January 1, 1956, thus ending the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium and raising its national flag high as the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve independence during that era, inspiring many liberation movements in the African continent and the Arab world.

Strong Saudi-Sudanese relations

The messages from the Saudi leadership reflect the depth of the historical and strategic relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Sudan. Relations between Riyadh and Khartoum are characterized by strength and stability, with the Kingdom consistently standing by Sudan through various political and economic junctures, supporting its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Kingdom views Sudan's stability as an integral part of the security of the Arab region and the Red Sea, a fact clearly demonstrated by the ongoing political and humanitarian support the Kingdom provides to the brotherly Sudanese people.

Aspirations towards a stable future

This year's Independence Day anniversary holds special significance given the exceptional circumstances Sudan is experiencing. Saudi Arabia's wishes for security and stability serve as a strong message of support for legitimate institutions and the Sudanese people as they overcome current challenges. The Saudi leadership consistently affirms its commitment to all efforts aimed at achieving national reconciliation in Sudan and advancing development, thereby fulfilling the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a dignified life and the establishment of a strong state with robust institutions capable of safeguarding the gains of independence.
