The Saudi Cabinet affirms its support for the security and stability of Yemen

The Saudi Cabinet, in its regular session, followed up on the latest developments in the region, foremost among them the efforts being made to enhance security and stability in the sisterly Republic of Yemen. This continued attention underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering stance towards Yemen, its government and people, and its constant commitment to ending the crisis the country is experiencing in a way that guarantees Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Historical context and ongoing political support
This stance is not new to Saudi policy; the Kingdom has led and continues to lead efforts to bridge the Yemeni divide, starting with the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, through the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue, and culminating in the Riyadh Agreement, which paved the way for unifying ranks to confront current challenges. The Council reiterates the Kingdom's full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, enabling it to fulfill its duties in managing state affairs, restoring its institutions, and achieving the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and prosperity.
Humanitarian and development path
In addition to political and military support, the Council reviewed the humanitarian and development efforts provided by the Kingdom through its two humanitarian and development arms: the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. The Kingdom continues to provide urgent relief aid and implement sustainable development projects in various Yemeni governorates, encompassing the health, education, energy, transportation, and water sectors, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and stimulating the local economy.
The importance of Yemeni stability regionally and internationally
In a related context, the Council emphasized that Yemen's security is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom and the Arab region as a whole. The stability of Yemen is of paramount strategic importance to international peace and security, particularly with regard to securing international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and ensuring the flow of global energy supplies. In this regard, the Kingdom supports all international and UN efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three agreed-upon frameworks.
The Council concluded its discussion of the Yemeni issue by stressing the need for all Yemeni parties to respond to calls for dialogue and peace, and to prioritize the supreme national interest to end the conflict and build a safe and stable Yemen that contributes effectively to its Gulf and Arab environment.
