The eyes of the economic and political world are turned towards Davos, Switzerland, where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating with a high-level delegation headed by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the 2026 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, scheduled to be held from January 19 to 23. This participation underscores the pivotal role the Kingdom plays in shaping the global economic landscape.
The importance of strategy and crucial timing
The Kingdom's participation in the 2026 session is of particular importance, coming at a time when the global economy is undergoing radical transformations that necessitate concerted international efforts. The World Economic Forum is a prestigious international platform that brings together world leaders, CEOs of major corporations, and decision-makers to discuss pressing issues. In this context, the Kingdom's participation reflects its weight as an active member of the G20 and an influential economic power seeking to build bridges of cooperation between East and West, building on the successes of "Vision 2030," which has become a global model for economic transformation and diversification of income sources.
Commitment to promoting international cooperation and stability
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Kingdom's participation under the theme "Values of Dialogue" embodies Riyadh's deep commitment to strengthening joint action to address economic and geopolitical challenges. He explained that the Kingdom prioritizes maintaining regional and international peace and security as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors to ensure the well-being of nations. He noted that the Kingdom will utilize the Davos platform to present innovative solutions in the fields of technology and scientific research, thereby enhancing competitiveness and creating promising investment opportunities.
Saudi Arabia as a global tourist destination
For his part, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khatib highlighted the tremendous transformation in the Saudi tourism sector, emphasizing that the Kingdom has become a global tourism powerhouse. Al-Khatib explained that participation in Davos 2026 aims to showcase tourism as an integrated economic system that contributes to job creation and infrastructure development. He noted that the Kingdom presents a model that balances rapid growth with the preservation of cultural identity and natural resources, thus strengthening its position on the international tourism map.
High-level delegation and innovative initiatives
The Saudi delegation includes a number of ministers and officials, among them the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Washington, Princess Reema bint Bandar, and the ministers of commerce, investment, finance, communications, industry, and economy. Through a series of bilateral meetings and dialogue sessions, the delegation will highlight investment opportunities in the Kingdom, particularly in the clean energy, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology sectors.
The "Saudi House" pavilion: A platform for dialogue
To enhance communication, the Kingdom is relaunching the “Saudi House” pavilion initiative, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Planning. The pavilion will host more than 20 dialogue sessions, including 10 officially accredited sessions from the Forum, discussing vital topics such as quality of life, human capital development, and investment. The initiative will also launch the “NextOn” dialogue series to explore the future, featuring international experts, further solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a hub for shaping future economic decisions.
