The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center supports 200 million women with $3.8 billion

Through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to solidify its global standing as a beacon of generosity and philanthropy, reaffirming its ethical and humanitarian commitment to those most in need. In its latest international engagement, the Kingdom highlighted its extensive efforts in supporting women and girls affected by crises during the launch of the United Nations Population Fund's 2026 Humanitarian Action Report.

Historical context: A unified umbrella for Saudi philanthropy

Since its establishment in May 2015, under the generous guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the center has revolutionized the mechanism for delivering Saudi aid. Whereas previous efforts were fragmented, the center has become the unified umbrella organization that coordinates and directs humanitarian aid abroad, relying on professional standards that ensure aid reaches those who need it most, without any religious or ethnic discrimination. From its inception, the center has placed the "women and children" file at the forefront of its priorities, recognizing that women are the most vulnerable and affected group during times of war and natural disasters.

Record numbers reflect the scale of the global impact

During the international event, Ms. Jawahir bint Abdullah Al-Muhanna, Director of the Community Support Department at the Center, revealed statistics reflecting the magnitude of Saudi Arabia's role. The Center has implemented 1,169 high-quality projects directly targeting women, at a total cost exceeding $3.8 billion . These massive projects have successfully transformed the lives of more than 200 million women across 79 countries on all continents, confirming that the Kingdom's benevolent efforts know no geographical boundaries.

A comprehensive strategy to address the challenges

The center's efforts were not limited to providing emergency in-kind assistance, but it also adopted a sustainable development strategy to address the complex challenges facing women in conflict zones, and the interventions included the following sectors:

  • Integrated healthcare: Operating mobile clinics in remote areas, supporting reproductive health programs, and training medical personnel to reduce maternal and child mortality rates.
  • Protection and psychosocial support: Establishing safe spaces that provide privacy for women, and providing legal and psychological counseling to survivors of violence, to ensure their dignified reintegration into society.
  • Economic and livelihood empowerment: Transforming women from aid recipients to producers through vocational training programs and ownership of production tools, especially for female breadwinners in rural areas.
  • Supporting education: Restoring schools and providing educational kits to ensure that girls remain in school and are protected from dropping out.

Strategic dimension and alignment of visions

These efforts are particularly important as they align perfectly with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 , which seeks to enhance Saudi Arabia’s role as a pivotal player on the international stage and a builder of peace and stability. The Center is also committed to aligning its projects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 5 on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through strategic partnerships with UN agencies and civil society organizations, the Center ensures efficient implementation and a sustainable impact, while continuously calling on the international community to join forces in developing innovative solutions that guarantee women’s rights and dignity in all circumstances.
