British Prime Minister Kiir announced Starmer Today, the United Kingdom will host a meeting this week of more than 30 countries ready to take action to restore and ensure Maritime transport safety in The Strait of Hormuz.
“The UK has so far brought together 35 countries around the declaration of intent we have issued to stand together for maritime security in the Gulf,” the British Prime Minister said at a press conference at Downing Street. “Later this week, the Foreign Secretary (Yvette Cooper) will host a meeting of these countries for the first time.”.

Starmer added, “During this meeting, we will assess all available diplomatic and political measures we can take to restore freedom of navigation, ensure the safety of ships and seafarers stranded (in the Strait of Hormuz), and resume the flow of vital goods.”
He explained that discussions will also take place at the level of “military planners” in these countries “to explore how to pool our capabilities and make the strait safe and accessible once the fighting has ended.”
