Saudi Arabia weather: Rain and floods in Jazan and Qassim, and weather warnings issued

The National Center for Meteorology issued an advanced weather alert today, Thursday, for the Jazan region, warning of weather fluctuations that could affect daily life in several governorates. The center explained that the region will experience moderate rainfall, accompanied by strong surface winds, which may cause dust storms and near-zero visibility on highways and in open areas.
The warning included the city of Jazan, as well as the governorates of Baysh, Al-Darb, and Farasan Island, where thunderstorms and hail are expected, with a high probability of flash floods in valleys and ravines. The meteorological department indicated that this weather condition will continue, God willing, until 3:00 PM today, urging residents and road users to exercise caution.
The geographical nature of Jazan and the impact of the weather
These warnings are particularly important given the geographical nature of the Jazan region, which combines coastal areas with mountainous terrain. At this time of year, the southwestern regions of the Kingdom are affected by humid air currents originating from the Red Sea, contributing to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds and thunderstorms. The Farasan Islands and the Darb Governorate are vital areas that require close monitoring of sea conditions and wave activity during periods of strong winds to ensure the safety of fishermen and visitors.
Rain of goodness covers Al-Qassim
In connection with the ongoing rainfall across the Kingdom, moderate to heavy rain fell this morning in the Qassim region. The rain included the city of Buraidah and several surrounding governorates and towns, and the sky remains overcast, indicating the possibility of further precipitation. This rainfall is of great importance to the region, which is known for its intensive agricultural activity, as it will contribute to irrigating farms and replenishing groundwater reserves.
Safety and Civil Defense Recommendations
In conjunction with these warnings, the relevant authorities, primarily the General Directorate of Civil Defense, emphasize the importance of adhering to safety instructions during rainfall. Everyone is advised to stay away from floodplains and valleys, avoid low-lying areas where water may accumulate, and not attempt to cross wadis while they are flowing. Drivers are also advised to exercise extreme caution while driving in conditions of reduced visibility, rain, and hail, to ensure the safety of lives and property.
May God make it rain blessings and goodness, and may its benefits spread throughout the land.
