The Foreign Minister arrives in Muscat to chair the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived today in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. He was received at Muscat International Airport by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, along with several senior officials from the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Saudi Embassy in Muscat.
The Saudi-Omani Coordination Council commences its work
This visit comes as His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Omani counterpart co-chair the third meeting of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council. This council is one of the most important diplomatic and economic mechanisms framing the relationship between the two countries. During the meeting, the two sides will discuss ways to develop bilateral relations in various fields and follow up on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed in previous meetings, in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
The depth of historical relations and strategic partnership
Saudi-Omani relations are based on a deep historical legacy and strong fraternal ties that bind the leadership and people of both countries. These relations have witnessed a qualitative leap in recent years, particularly following the establishment of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council, which was announced during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq's visit to the Kingdom and his meetings with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Council aims to ensure the sustainability and deepening of cooperation in political, security, and economic matters, thereby strengthening the framework of joint Gulf cooperation.
Integrating Visions: Saudi Arabia 2030 and Oman 2040
This meeting is of particular importance given the convergence of the two countries' development visions: Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Oman's Vision 2040. Through the Coordination Council, both sides aim to create promising investment opportunities, enhance trade, and develop infrastructure. A prime example of this is the opening of the direct land route between the two countries across the Empty Quarter, which has facilitated the movement of goods and passengers. The current meeting is also expected to address new initiatives supporting the energy, tourism, technology, and logistics sectors.
Coordinating positions on regional and international issues
In addition to economic matters, political coordination is a cornerstone of the meetings between the two countries' foreign ministers. The foreign policies of the Kingdom and the Sultanate are characterized by a convergence of views on many regional and international issues, with a consistent emphasis on the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to promote security and stability in the Middle East. The meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views on current developments in the region and to unify diplomatic efforts to address shared challenges.
