Officially... Brendan Rodgers is the new coach of Al-Qadisiyah: Details of the global deal

In a resounding move confirming the Saudi clubs' determination to continue attracting international talent, Al-Qadisiyah FC officially announced the signing of veteran Northern Irish coach Brendan Rodgers as the first team's head coach. This deal reflects the growing strategic vision of the Eastern Province club, which seeks to solidify its position as a major force in football, not only domestically in the Roshan League, but also to compete strongly for continental titles in Asia in the coming years.
A distinguished coaching record in European stadiums
Brendan Rodgers is no ordinary name in the world of coaching; he is one of the most prominent tactical minds to have graced the English Premier League. Born in Northern Ireland, Rodgers boasts extensive experience, having managed over 300 matches in the world's most competitive league. Perhaps his most notable achievement was with Liverpool, where he led the Reds to a dramatic runner-up finish in the 2013-14 season, setting a new attacking record of 101 goals in a single campaign, a testament to his bold, attacking philosophy.
Rodgers' successes didn't stop at Liverpool. He made history with Leicester City, leading them to their first-ever FA Cup title in 2011, triumphing over some of the club's biggest clubs. He also enjoyed an exceptional spell in Scotland with Celtic, dominating domestic competitions and winning 11 major trophies, demonstrating his knack for winning and building championship-caliber teams.
Technical staff and management vision
Rodgers will not be arriving in Al-Khobar alone; he will be accompanied by a full technical staff to ensure his ideas are implemented precisely. The assistant staff includes John Kennedy and Jack Lyons, in addition to retaining first-team coaches Álvaro Gómez Rey and Antolín Martín, and the addition of set-piece specialist Elliott Taibo, indicating Al-Qadisiyah's attention to the smallest technical details.
Commenting on the appointment, James Besgrove, CEO of Al-Qadsia FC, said: “After a thorough search and consideration of several world-class candidates, we are delighted to welcome Brendan Rodgers. This move marks a pivotal moment in the club’s history, as his extensive experience aligns perfectly with our long-term ambition to make Al-Qadsia one of the leading clubs in Asia.” Besgrove emphasized that the strong support from the board and the availability of exceptional players will create an ideal environment for success.
A football philosophy that suits the current stage
For his part, sporting director Carlos Anton expressed his great optimism about the move, noting that Rodgers' philosophy of possession and organized attacking football aligns perfectly with the club's football strategy. He added that the new manager will work in complete harmony with all departments, from technical analysis to sports medicine, to elevate the club's operations.
Rodgers’ arrival is expected to bring about a qualitative shift in Al-Qadisiyah’s performance, especially given the intense competition in the Saudi League, where Al-Qadisiyah fans will rely heavily on the new coach’s skill in managing major matches and developing young talents and international stars in the team.
