71 suspected cases of commercial concealment were detected in 30 days

The National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment identified 71 initial suspected cases of commercial concealment and referred the violators to the competent authorities for investigation and application of deterrent penalties against them. This was during the program's implementation of 2,611 inspection visits to combat commercial concealment in various regions of the Kingdom during March 2026, based on indications and signs of suspected concealment.

The visits aimed to verify the compliance of commercial establishments and to detect crimes and violations of the anti-concealment system. They included several activities, most notably: retail of precious metals and gemstones, retail of nuts, coffee, spices and perfumes, retail of bakery products and sugar confectionery, retail of perfumes, retail of fresh and preserved fruits and vegetables, and retail of bags.

Penalties and fines

The penalties under the anti-concealment system include imprisonment for up to 5 years, a fine of up to 5 million riyals, and the seizure and confiscation of illicit funds after final judicial rulings are issued against those involved, in addition to the subsidiary penalties prescribed by law, which are: closing the establishment, liquidating the activity, canceling the commercial registration, prohibiting the practice of commercial activity, collecting zakat, fees and taxes, publicizing the scandal, and deporting those being concealed from the Kingdom and not allowing them to return to it for work.
