The Minister of Interior performs the funeral prayer for Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani
His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, performed the funeral prayer after the afternoon prayer on Friday for His Excellency Lieutenant General Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations Affairs - may God have mercy on him - at the King Khalid Mosque in Riyadh, amidst the presence of a number of officials, security leaders and citizens.
Following the prayer, His Highness the Minister of Interior conveyed the condolences and sympathies of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – to the sons and relatives of the deceased, asking God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him a place in Paradise, and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace.
A distinguished career in the service of security
The late Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani was one of the most prominent security leaders who served the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for many decades, holding numerous important and sensitive positions within the Ministry of Interior. He was known – may God have mercy on him – for his dedication and sincerity in both field and administrative work, contributing effectively to the development of the security apparatus.
The deceased previously served as Director of Public Security, a period that witnessed significant development in security mechanisms and plans for combating crime and terrorism, and consolidating stability throughout the Kingdom. He also played a prominent role in overseeing security plans for the Hajj and Umrah seasons for many years, contributing to their success and ensuring the safety of pilgrims.
The deceased's status and the impact of his passing
The passing of Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani comes after a distinguished career dedicated to serving his religion, his king, and his country. He was a model of a seasoned security leader, combining decisiveness with extensive experience. He left a clear mark on the Operations Affairs sector of the Ministry of Interior, a vital sector responsible for security coordination and crisis management, reflecting the magnitude of the responsibility he carried.
The prayer was performed with His Highness the Minister of Interior by a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, senior officials of the Ministry of Interior, leaders of security sectors, and a large crowd of citizens who came to offer their condolences, praying to God to reward the deceased with the best reward for what he offered to his country and nation.
