Erdogan warns of potential provocations and sabotage that threaten the truce between Washington and Tehran

warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of possible provocations and acts of sabotage, following the announcement of ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

“We welcome the ceasefire in the war that has engulfed our region since February 28,” Erdogan said via the X platform. “We hope the ceasefire will be fully implemented on the ground without allowing for possible provocations or acts of sabotage.”.

In a phone call with his American counterpart Donald Trump, Erdogan called for a permanent peace agreement with Iran, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency.

The statement indicated that Erdogan told Trump, “This two-week opportunity, which has opened up after 40 days of extreme tension and suffering for the whole world, must be used to reach a lasting peace agreement.”.

Erdogan called for “not exposing this operation to any risks under any circumstances,” and said that Türkiye would provide its full support for the operation.

Turkish diplomatic efforts

Despite its strong criticism of the Israeli occupation entity, Türkiye joined diplomatic efforts with Egypt and Pakistan to reach a ceasefire in the conflict.

Türkiye has sent three trucks loaded with medical aid to Iran, Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu announced.

“Our trucks, loaded with medical supplies and equipment, have set off towards Iran,” the minister said on the X platform, stressing that Ankara wants to “heal the wounds of the oppressed.”.
