India: 9 dead and 24 seriously injured in a power plant explosion

An explosion at a power plant in central Indiakilled at least nine people and injured 15 others on Tuesday, local authorities said.
The blast occurred in Chhattisgarh state at a plant belonging to Vedanta Limited, a subsidiary of London-listed Vedanta Resources, according to the state's Industry Minister, Lakhan Lal Dewangan.
The minister said 24 workers were seriously injured when a boiler exploded at the plant in Sakti district, confirming that nine of them had died.
The state's Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, announced that an investigation would be conducted and the strictest possible action would be taken against all those responsible.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Chhattisgarh explosion as "tragic" and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
