Makkah Environment: Securing two abandoned wells to reduce risks and enhance safety

As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce environmental risks and enhance public safety, the branch implemented Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture In the Makkah region, work is underway to treat and secure two abandoned hand-dug wells, after they were identified as a danger to passersby and residents of the area.
The work was carried out urgently in coordination with Jeddah Municipality The Civil Defense Department and the relevant authorities, in accordance with the approved technical procedures, filled in the two wells and fully secured the site, ensuring the removal of potential risks to protect lives and property.

The Director General of the Ministry's branch in the region, Engineer Walid Al-Daghis, confirmed that addressing abandoned sites is a priority for the branch within an integrated system concerned with protecting the environment and promoting safety, calling on everyone to report exposed or abandoned wells through official channels, in support of prevention efforts and achieving a safe environment.
