King Salman Center provides urgent food aid to displaced people in Gaza

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center its distribution of vital food aid yesterday in camps for displaced persons in the central Gaza Strip. This initiative comes in response to the harsh living conditions faced by the residents of the Strip and in fulfillment of repeated humanitarian appeals for food and medicine.

Urgent response to the displacement crisis

This aid is aimed directly at alleviating the suffering caused by the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of families. The food baskets target families who have lost their livelihoods and homes and are now entirely dependent on external assistance while living in tents and shelters. This initiative comes amidst UN reports warning of worsening food insecurity and deteriorating health and environmental conditions in the Gaza Strip, making food provision an urgent priority.

The Saudi Relief Bridge: Figures and Facts

This initiative falls under the umbrella of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people , launched by the Saudi leadership and met with widespread public support. The Kingdom has mobilized all its logistical resources to deliver the aid, establishing both an air bridge and a sea bridge to ensure the flow of relief supplies.

According to the latest statistics issued by the center, Saudi aid has reached record levels, including:

  • 78 relief planes arrived carrying tons of food and medical supplies.
  • Eight giant ships loaded with essential supplies were dispatched
  • The total cargo of the two air and sea bridges exceeded 7,706 tons .
  • 912 relief trucks crossed through land crossings loaded with shelter materials and medical equipment.

Diversifying relief efforts and international partnerships

Saudi efforts were not limited to traditional methods; in light of the field challenges and the closure of some crossings, the Kingdom carried out airdrops of quality aid in partnership with the Jordanian Armed Forces, to break the siege and ensure the arrival of food to isolated areas.

In terms of medical and institutional support, the center delivered 20 fully equipped ambulances to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to bolster the dilapidated ambulance system in the Gaza Strip. The center also signed strategic agreements with UN and international organizations to implement relief projects within Gaza totaling $90.35 million , reflecting the comprehensive nature of Saudi humanitarian intervention, which encompasses food, health, and shelter.

These moves embody the historic and pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in standing by Arab causes, and affirm its firm commitment to strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of successive humanitarian crises.
