In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to facilitating the Hajj pilgrimage for pilgrims, the first flight carrying beneficiaries of the Makkah Route Initiative from Malaysia, bound for the Kingdom. The flight departed from the dedicated terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, heading to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. The farewell ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Zulkifli bin Hassan and the Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia, Osama bin Dakhel Al-Ahmadi, underscoring the depth of bilateral relations and the joint cooperation between the two countries in ensuring the success of this pioneering Islamic project.

They also include verifying compliance with all necessary health requirements, as well as the tagging and sorting of luggage according to precise arrangements for transportation and accommodation in the Kingdom. Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims are transferred directly to dedicated buses that transport them to their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah via designated routes. Partner organizations then deliver their luggage directly to their rooms, eliminating the need for waiting at airports.

The Makkah Route Initiative is one of the most prominent initiatives of the “Guests of God Service Program,” which is a key component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The initiative was first launched in 1438 AH (2017 CE), with Malaysia being among the first countries to implement this pioneering experience. Since then, the initiative has witnessed continuous expansion to include other Islamic countries. The Saudi Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative for the eighth consecutive year, and since its launch, it has successfully served more than 1,254,994 pilgrims, reflecting the Kingdom’s remarkable success and exceptional organizational capabilities in managing crowds and facilitating Hajj rituals.

The Ministry of Interior works in full coordination with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media. Also participating are the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Endowments, the Guests of God Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports. All of this is done in cooperation with the digital partner (stc Group) to ensure a robust technological infrastructure that guarantees smooth procedures and data security, allowing pilgrims to begin their spiritual journey with comfort and peace of mind from the moment they leave their home countries.
