The Governor of Riyadh sponsors the graduation ceremony of the 15th batch of Alfaisal University

On an exceptional evening reflecting the wise leadership's commitment to the education sector and the development of human resources, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, presided over the graduation ceremony for the fifteenth cohort of postgraduate and undergraduate students from the Colleges of Law, International Relations, and Business Administration at Alfaisal University. The joyous ceremony was held at the university's campus in Riyadh, amidst a distinguished gathering of princes, dignitaries, and the graduates' families.

Laying the foundation stone for sports projects that align with Vision 2030

The ceremony was not limited to honoring the graduates; it also featured a significant event: the laying of the foundation stone for the university's new sports facilities by His Royal Highness the Prince of Riyadh. The total cost of these development projects exceeds 300 million Saudi Riyals. The facilities include a state-of-the-art stadium with a capacity of over 8,000 spectators, as well as multi-purpose sports halls, Olympic-standard swimming pools, and dedicated floors for support services and parking, reflecting the university's commitment to providing a comprehensive academic environment.

Historical and academic context of Alfaisal University

Alfaisal University was founded in 2002 through a pioneering initiative by the King Faisal Foundation, becoming the first private, non-profit university in Saudi Arabia focused on scientific research. Since its inception, the university has been committed to providing an educational standard comparable to the world's most prestigious universities, enabling it to achieve high rankings in academic classifications both locally and regionally. The university stands as a scientific beacon embodying the vision of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – in disseminating knowledge and building human capital.

Academic expansion and keeping pace with the demands of the times

During the ceremony, the President of Alfaisal University, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hayaza, delivered a speech in which he expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman – may God protect them – for their unwavering support of the education, research, and innovation sectors. Dr. Al-Hayaza emphasized that the university has expanded its academic offerings to include specialized fields, launching 14 programs in the areas of data and artificial intelligence. This strategic direction aims to cultivate national talent capable of leading the future and meeting the evolving needs of the labor market.

Local, regional and international impact

These steps and projects are of paramount importance on several levels. Locally, the new sports facilities contribute to supporting the Quality of Life Program, one of the most important programs of Saudi Vision 2030, by providing a comprehensive sports and health environment for young people. Regionally and internationally, the university enhances the Kingdom's position as a leading educational destination; the university president noted that international students constitute more than 35% of the total student body, representing over 50 countries worldwide, thus creating a rich, global academic environment that fosters cultural diversity and enriches the educational experience.

Closing ceremony and graduates' procession

Upon his arrival, His Royal Highness the Prince of Riyadh was received by a number of university leaders, including Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Princess Dr. Maha bint Mishari bin Abdulaziz, and Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Khalid. The ceremony included a visual presentation of the university's sports projects, followed by a speech from the graduates, who expressed their pride in this achievement and pledged to serve their country and its leadership. The event concluded with the announcement of the graduates' names, the administration of the oath, and the taking of commemorative photographs with His Royal Highness, the patron of the ceremony, in a scene that embodied the unity between the leadership and the people of the nation in building a bright future.
