Passport control completes procedures for Socotra tourists via Jeddah airport

The General Directorate of Passports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the completion of travel procedures for a group of tourists arriving from the Yemeni island of Socotra, via King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The Directorate ensured that all necessary facilities were provided to expedite their processing and facilitate their safe and smooth return to their home countries.
Advanced logistical and technical facilities
In its commitment to providing the best services to travelers and transit passengers at the Kingdom's ports of entry, the General Directorate of Passports confirmed that it has dedicated all its human and technological resources to supporting the sites designated to serve these tourists. These preparations included equipping counters with the latest technology for document verification and processing transactions in record time, in addition to deploying qualified and trained personnel to handle various nationalities and provide immediate assistance. This reflects the significant development witnessed by the passport sector in the Kingdom within the framework of Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the efficiency of government services.
Socotra: A Jewel of World Heritage and the Challenges of Travel
This step comes in light of the great importance of Socotra Island as one of the world's leading ecotourism destinations. The island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its unique biodiversity and rare flora and fauna found nowhere else, such as the Dragon's Blood Tree. Given the exceptional circumstances in the region and the occasional difficulties with direct flights, many international tourists are resorting to travel routes through neighboring countries, with Saudi Arabia playing a pivotal role as a logistical and humanitarian hub, facilitating the safe movement and travel of foreign nationals and tourists in the region.
The Kingdom's humanitarian and pioneering role
King Abdulaziz International Airport's welcoming of these tourists and facilitating their arrival reflects the Kingdom's leading role in the region, not only politically and economically, but also in humanitarian and logistical aspects. The Kingdom continuously works to remove obstacles for travelers transiting through its territory, especially those coming from regions that may face challenges with direct air transport. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is a major gateway and a global hub connecting East and West, making it a vital focal point for efficiently and effectively resolving such logistical situations.
The Passports Department concluded by affirming its continued readiness at all air, land and sea ports to provide support and assistance to all travelers, which enhances the Kingdom’s position as a pivotal country committed to the highest quality standards in services provided to guests and transit passengers.
