King Salman Center distributes 1000 food baskets in Blue Nile

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the brotherly Sudanese people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its urgent relief programs. Yesterday, the Center distributed 1,000 food baskets targeting the most vulnerable families, specifically internally displaced persons and returnees from South Sudan in the Al-Rusayris locality of Blue Nile State, Sudan.

Approximately 6,098 individuals have benefited from this direct food assistance. This step comes within the framework of the “Sudan Support” project, which aims to bridge the food gap and provide basic needs for those affected in areas suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions.

The context of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan

This aid comes at a critical humanitarian juncture for Sudan, where ongoing conflicts and disputes have led to widespread displacement, exacerbating the suffering of civilians and causing a sharp decline in food security. Blue Nile State is among the areas requiring sustained humanitarian intervention due to its geographical location and the large influx of returnees and internally displaced persons, placing significant strain on limited local resources.

The Kingdom's leading role in relief work

This move reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, to stand by its sisterly and friendly nations in times of crisis. The Center’s efforts extend beyond distributing food baskets; they also include the air and sea bridges the Kingdom has established since the outbreak of the Sudanese crisis, which have delivered hundreds of tons of medical, food, and shelter supplies.

The importance of the food security support project

The food basket distribution project holds strategic importance that extends beyond simply providing temporary aid. It contributes to strengthening the resilience of affected communities and reduces the risk of malnutrition, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly. These initiatives operate in coordination with local and international partners to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, in accordance with international humanitarian standards, reflecting the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Sudanese peoples.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continues to monitor changing needs on the ground to ensure an effective and rapid response, thus confirming the Kingdom’s leadership in charitable and humanitarian work at the regional and international levels.
