King Abdulaziz University organizes American driving tests (ADEX)

In a move reflecting the prestigious standing of educational institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University organized the American Dental Association (ADEX) licensing exams. This step activates the faculty's accreditation as an internationally licensed center for conducting these exams outside the United States, an achievement that adds to the university's impressive record, especially after its prior academic accreditation from the American Code of Dental Accreditation (CODA), placing it among the world's leading dental schools.

Details of tests and medical fields

The examinations, held at the university, saw the participation of 25 male and female physicians from the internship program and university graduates, under the generous sponsorship and support of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The assessment activities extended over four consecutive days and were characterized by accuracy and high standards.

The testing areas varied to include specific and vital specialties in dentistry, namely:

  • Dental replacement.
  • Root canal and nerve treatment.
  • Treatment of the gums and surrounding tissues.
  • Restorative Dentistry.
  • Advanced technical simulation tests.

The importance of the event and its impact on the health sector

This event holds significant strategic importance, as offering ADEX exams within the Kingdom presents a golden opportunity for Saudi nationals, sparing them the hardship of traveling to the United States to take these essential exams for professional practice or postgraduate studies. Furthermore, conducting the exams according to American standards within a local environment underscores the quality of King Abdulaziz University's educational outcomes and their alignment with global requirements.

In this context, Dr. Mark Armstrong, President of ADEX, explained that selecting the Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University as an accredited testing center provides an independent and reliable assessment tool for practical and clinical skills. Dr. Armstrong emphasized that this step directly contributes to raising the quality of professional practice and protects the community by ensuring the competence of healthcare practitioners according to the highest international standards.

Supporting the leadership and the Kingdom's Vision 2030

For his part, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdulghani Mirah, noted that hosting this international event reflects the university's unwavering commitment to implementing global professional standards in medical education. Dr. Mirah commended the unlimited support from the university's senior administration and the outstanding support from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, which enabled graduates to gain international experience within the university, thus boosting their self-confidence and academic standing.

The participating physicians expressed their deep appreciation for this opportunity, emphasizing that passing these exams enhances their readiness to pursue postgraduate studies at top international universities and practice their profession with the highest level of expertise. This academic and professional development aligns perfectly with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Human Capital Development Program, which aims to equip Saudi citizens to compete globally and elevate the quality of healthcare services provided in the Kingdom.
