250 people missing after boat capsized in the Andaman Sea

At least 250 people, including Rohingya refugees and Bangladeshi nationals, are missing after a boat capsized en route to Malaysia across the Andaman Sea, according to UN agencies.
The authorities explained that the boat departed from the Teknaf area in Cox's Bazar , southern Bangladesh, carrying large numbers of passengers on an irregular migration journey towards Malaysia.
Causes of drowning
Reports indicated that the boat was overcrowded with passengers, along with bad weather conditions including strong winds and rough waves, which led to it losing its balance and capsizing in the open sea.
United Nations agencies stressed that this incident highlights the great dangers faced by migrants on sea journeys, calling for intensified efforts to protect them and reduce these tragedies.
