Saudi Crown Prince congratulates Balendra Shah on becoming Prime Minister of Nepal
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent an official cable of congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Balendra Shah on the occasion of his swearing-in as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. In his cable, His Royal Highness expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for success in his new duties, and wished the friendly people of Nepal further progress, prosperity, and advancement in all fields.
The depth of Saudi-Nepalese relations
This congratulatory message comes within the framework of the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Nepal, characterized by friendship and mutual cooperation since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1977. These relations have witnessed remarkable development over the decades, as the wise leadership of the Kingdom is keen to strengthen ties of cooperation with various friendly countries in a way that serves common interests and enhances stability and development at both the regional and international levels.
Labor partnership and modern reforms
Nepalese workers in Saudi Arabia constitute one of the most important pillars of cooperation between the two countries. The Kingdom hosts hundreds of thousands of Nepalese workers and employees who contribute effectively to the Kingdom's development and construction across various sectors. In turn, remittances from these workers significantly support the Nepalese economy. As part of its Vision 2030 initiatives, the Kingdom has launched several labor reforms, such as the Contractual Relationship Improvement Initiative, which aims to protect the rights of expatriate workers and provide a safe and attractive work environment. This has positively impacted bilateral relations between Riyadh and Kathmandu.
Economic cooperation and support for development
On the development front, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays a prominent role as a major supporter of development projects in Nepal through the Saudi Fund for Development. Over the years, the Fund has provided soft loans and grants to support vital projects in the infrastructure, energy, water, and agriculture sectors, reflecting the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to supporting developing countries and helping them achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and advance their local economies.
Shared future prospects
The congratulatory message sent by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince reaffirms the importance the Kingdom attaches to strengthening its international partnerships in Asia. With Mr. Balendra Shah assuming the premiership in Nepal, political and economic circles anticipate new horizons for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, and tourism. This diplomatic gesture serves as a clear message of the Kingdom's solidarity with Nepal on its path toward achieving political stability and economic growth, benefiting the people of both friendly nations and fulfilling their aspirations for a brighter future.
