In his address at the ceremony, Engineer Al-Khuraiji conveyed the gratitude and appreciation of His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the retirees, highly commending their sincere efforts and boundless dedication throughout their careers, both within the Kingdom and in its diplomatic missions around the world. Historical background and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established in 1930 by order of the Kingdom's founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – making it the first ministry in the Kingdom's history. Since then, the Ministry has played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing the Kingdom's foreign policy, which is based on the firm principles of mutual respect, non-interference in the affairs of other countries, and the pursuit of international peace and security. Over the decades, the Ministry's staff, including the honored retirees today, have worked to represent the Kingdom in the best possible way, defend its interests, provide services to its citizens abroad, and build bridges of friendship and cooperation with various countries around the world.
The importance of recognition and its institutional impact
This honor is not merely a celebratory occasion, but a profound message of appreciation and gratitude from the Kingdom to those who have dedicated years of their lives to serving Saudi diplomacy. This initiative holds immense significance on both a moral and institutional level; it reinforces a culture of loyalty and belonging among current employees and affirms that their efforts and sacrifices will always be valued. Furthermore, the retirees' experience constitutes a valuable legacy and a living institutional memory from which new generations of diplomats can draw to address contemporary challenges. This long-standing tradition of honoring retirees contributes to solidifying the values of loyalty and strengthens the cohesion of the Saudi diplomatic corps, positively impacting the performance of the Kingdom's foreign policy and the achievement of the ambitious goals of Vision 2030.
