Saudi Arabia showcases smart transportation solutions at the TRB conference in Washington

The Public Transport Authority concluded its active participation in the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), which was held in Washington, D.C., and is one of the most important and oldest global gatherings specializing in the field of transport and logistics.

The Kingdom’s delegation to this international forum was headed by the Authority’s Deputy for Transport Enabling, Dr. Omaima bint Omar Bamsq. This participation comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s strategy to enhance its international presence and exchange experiences with major research and regulatory institutions around the world.

Research papers and innovative solutions

During the conference, the Authority presented two research papers focusing on reviewing modern solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the transportation sector and raising the level of operational and organizational performance. This research is particularly important given the global trend towards smart and sustainable transportation, as the Kingdom seeks to implement global best practices to ensure smooth traffic flow and passenger safety.

The Saudi delegation also participated in a number of specialized dialogue sessions that discussed the latest developments in the transport industry, the challenges facing global supply chains, and future opportunities for integrating modern technologies into transport infrastructure.

The Hajj experience: A global model for crowd management

During its participation, the Authority showcased its pioneering experience in managing the transportation system during Hajj seasons, specifically the preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season. It highlighted the vital role of various modes of transportation, including the Holy Sites Metro , in facilitating the movement of pilgrims. The Kingdom's experience in transporting millions of pilgrims within specific timeframes and limited geographical areas is considered a global model to be emulated in the field of crowd management and complex logistics.

Strengthening partnerships and supporting Vision 2030

In a related context, the Authority highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors to enhance the quality of services provided. These initiatives align with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, stemming from the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
