The Crown Prince receives a message from the President of Rwanda to strengthen bilateral relations
In a diplomatic move reflecting the deepening relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Rwanda, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a written message from His Excellency President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda. The message affirmed Rwanda's solidarity with the Kingdom in light of the current regional circumstances and expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly nations.
The message was delivered to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh with His Excellency Olivier Ndu Hungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda. During the meeting, they reviewed the strong bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them in various fields, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common interest on the regional and international levels.
Historical context of evolving relations
This message comes amidst a remarkable development in Saudi-Rwandan relations in recent years. The two countries have worked to build bridges of cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests. The Saudi Fund for Development has played a vital role in supporting infrastructure and development projects in Rwanda, contributing to the Kingdom's positive presence on the African continent. For its part, Rwanda, which has achieved tremendous developmental and economic progress after overcoming a difficult period in its history, views the Kingdom as a key strategic partner in the Arab and Islamic world, and an important gateway for investments and economic cooperation that serves Rwanda's Vision 2050 and its ambitious development goals.
Strategic importance and expected impacts
This message is of great importance on several levels. On the bilateral level, it represents a strong boost to political and economic relations, and may pave the way for high-level visits and the signing of new agreements in the fields of trade, investment, energy and technology, especially in light of the convergence of visions between the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and Rwandan development plans.
At the regional and international levels, this solidarity reflects the success of Saudi diplomacy in building a broad network of international alliances and partnerships that transcend traditional geographic boundaries. It also underscores the Kingdom's position as an influential power striving to achieve security and stability in the region, and enjoys the support of key players in other continents, such as Africa. This rapprochement represents a model of South-South cooperation, where rising powers in Asia and Africa coordinate their positions to address shared global challenges and achieve sustainable development for their people.
The reception was attended on the Saudi side by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Political Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati, and His Excellency the Director General of the General Department for African Countries, Mr. Saqr Al-Qurashi.
