Makkah Health Cluster records 3 million visits to primary care centers by 2025
In a significant achievement reflecting the success of the healthcare transformation plans in Saudi Arabia, the Makkah Health Cluster announced record numbers of beneficiaries of primary healthcare services during 2025. The total number of visits exceeded three million, indicating a qualitative leap in the efficiency of services provided and an expansion of healthcare coverage in the Holy City.
Rapid growth in numbers
Official statistics released by the association revealed that the total number of visits to primary healthcare centers reached 3,013,063 by the end of 2025, marking a significant increase compared to 2024, which saw 2,463,446 visits. This increase of 549,617 visits represents a growth of 22.3%, a strong indicator of the community's growing awareness of the importance of primary healthcare and their confidence in the healthcare system.
The context of health transformation and Vision 2030
This sustained growth aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program, which focuses primarily on strengthening the role of primary healthcare as the first line of defense and the cornerstone of the healthcare system. These efforts aim to improve access to healthcare services, prioritize prevention over treatment, and alleviate pressure on referral hospitals and emergency departments, thereby contributing to increased spending efficiency and improved quality of life.
The most active centers in Mecca
The healthcare services map in Makkah witnessed significant activity in several vital centers, with Al-Shara'i Health Center (7) topping the list, serving 218,996 beneficiaries, followed by Al-Zahir Health Center with 143,094 beneficiaries, and then Al-Aziziyah Center with 137,459 visits. Other centers also recorded high numbers, such as Al-Nawariyah (132,075 visits), Hada' (129,384 visits), and Al-Jumum (115,178 visits), reflecting the well-planned geographical distribution of services to cover the high population density in Makkah's various neighborhoods.
The strategic importance of Makkah health services
These figures are particularly significant given Mecca's status as the Qibla for Muslims, requiring a flexible healthcare system capable of accommodating the increasing numbers of residents, visitors, and pilgrims. This increase in capacity is attributed to the expansion of infrastructure projects, improvements to the work environment, and the implementation of digital solutions such as online booking services through the "Sehhaty" app, which have contributed to reducing waiting times and facilitating the patient's treatment journey.
The Makkah Health Cluster concluded by emphasizing its commitment to moving forward with the development of digital and construction infrastructure, and raising the efficiency of medical and administrative staff, to ensure the sustainability of these positive results and to provide integrated health care that meets the aspirations of beneficiaries and keeps pace with global standards.
