Tahajjud prayer in the Prophet's Mosque on the 27th night of Ramadan amidst awe-inspiring atmosphere
A spiritual atmosphere pervades the Prophet's Mosque on the night of the 27th of Ramadan
The Prophet's Mosque in Medina witnessed the Tahajjud prayer on the 27th night of Ramadan. The mosque's halls, courtyards, and roof were overflowing with worshippers seeking Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), hoping for forgiveness and salvation from Hellfire, amidst a profoundly spiritual and serene atmosphere of devotion and reverence.
The religious and historical significance of the 27th night
The 27th night of Ramadan holds immense significance in the Muslim consciousness. Many scholars and interpreters, based on authentic hadiths, believe it to be Laylat the Night of Decree , the night on which the Quran was revealed, a night better than a thousand months. Performing acts of worship in the Prophet's Mosque, the second holiest site in Islam after the Grand Mosque in Mecca, is a great honor sought by Muslims. Rewards are multiplied there, and its sacred precincts are connected to the Prophet's life, lending this night a unique spiritual character that links the present of the Muslim community to its glorious past.
Imams of the Prophet's Mosque and the Qunut supplication
A select group of imams from the Prophet's Mosque led the worshippers in the Tahajjud prayer. Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Buaijan led the first two sets of prayers, while Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Barhaji led the third and fourth. Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Hudhaifi concluded the prayer with the final set of prayers, including the Witr prayer. Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi then recited the Qunut supplication with heartfelt words that moved the worshippers to tears, asking God Almighty to accept the Muslims' fasting, prayers, and good deeds, to answer their supplications, to grant them a blessed end to Ramadan with mercy, forgiveness, and deliverance from Hellfire, and to protect the Muslim lands and grant them lasting peace and security.
A comprehensive service system and tremendous organizational efforts
On both the organizational and local levels, this massive annual event reflects the immense efforts exerted by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the pilgrims. The Prophet's Mosque witnessed an unprecedented level of integration in organizational, security, health, and guidance services provided by the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, in cooperation with various relevant authorities. These efforts included crowd management to ensure smooth movement and prevent stampedes, providing vast quantities of chilled Zamzam water, preparing air conditioning and ventilation systems, and intensifying cleaning and sanitization operations around the clock. This integrated system directly contributed to enabling worshippers and visitors to perform their rituals with ease, comfort, and tranquility during these blessed nights, thus confirming the Kingdom's leading role in managing millions of pilgrims with efficiency and competence.
