King Salman Center distributes winter clothing vouchers in Idlib as part of the Kanf project

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, continued its tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people, as the center distributed urgent winter aid in Idlib Governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic.

In detail, the center distributed 315 winter clothing vouchers two days ago at the Khirbet al-Jawz center in Idlib Governorate. These vouchers enabled beneficiaries to choose winter clothes suitable for their needs. A total of 315 individuals from displaced families living in camps benefited from this distribution, which was part of the 2026 winter clothing distribution project (Kanaf).

Winter suffering in northern Syrian camps

This initiative comes at a critical time, as displaced people in northern Syria, particularly in Idlib province, face harsh weather conditions with the onset of winter. These areas are among the hardest hit by the cold waves, with hundreds of thousands living in tents lacking even the most basic insulation, making winter clothing and heating a matter of life and death for children and the elderly.

The importance of the “Kanaf” project and the voucher mechanism

The “Kanaf” project, implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, is distinguished by its advanced mechanism, which relies on shopping vouchers instead of direct in-kind distribution in many cases. The importance of this approach lies in preserving the dignity of beneficiaries and giving them the freedom to choose items that suit their personal sizes and tastes, as well as stimulating local economic activity in the targeted areas through purchases from approved local merchants.

The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work

This support embodies the natural extension of the humanitarian role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays globally and regionally. Since its establishment, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has placed the Syrian crisis at the forefront of its priorities, providing a wide range of programs encompassing food security, shelter, health, and education. This ongoing assistance underscores the Kingdom's moral and humanitarian commitment to those affected by crises and disasters, and its unwavering dedication to providing warmth and security to the most vulnerable families amidst the challenging economic and living conditions prevailing in the region.
