Saudi Arabia condemns the attacks on the UAE and affirms its full solidarity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed the Kingdom's strongest condemnation of the attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities in the sisterly United Arab Emirates. In an official statement, the Kingdom affirmed that these attacks, carried out using missiles and drones, not only target the security of the UAE but also threaten the stability of the region and global energy supplies. The Kingdom emphasized its full support and unwavering solidarity with the UAE in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

This condemnation comes amid escalating attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia from Yemeni territory, which have repeatedly targeted civilian sites in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE. These attacks are part of the wider conflict in Yemen, where the Kingdom leads a military coalition supporting the legitimate Yemeni government. Coalition countries, along with several international powers, accuse Iran of supplying the Houthis with advanced weaponry, including ballistic missiles and drones, in flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions, enabling them to launch cross-border attacks and threaten international shipping in the Red Sea.

Targeting vital facilities in the UAE is of paramount importance given the country's status as a global financial and commercial hub. Such attacks not only aim to inflict material and human losses but also seek to undermine confidence in the UAE's secure investment environment and disrupt global tourism and aviation. Regionally, this escalation poses a significant threat to the stability of the Gulf region, a crucial energy artery for the world, raising widespread international concern about the potential for the conflict to expand and spiral out of control.

These attacks have been met with widespread international condemnation from various countries and international organizations, including the UN Security Council, the United States, and European countries, which described them as acts of terrorism that undermine peace efforts in Yemen and threaten regional security. In this context, the Kingdom reiterated its call for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance to stop these attacks, hold those responsible accountable, and confront Iran's destabilizing practices in the region and its support for armed militias.
